Ceduna to Elliston

No need to rush things in my situation.

I returned the hired golf clubs, and make sure that if I come back to complete the trip to the West, I wouldn't have to pay another $30 for the rental.

All good.  Nancy even offered to refund the $30 I'd already paid.

It's a good time to reflect on how nice the people are on this trip.  It is actually unusual that people DON'T say hello to you as you pass them.  On the road, many wave to you as they pass in the opposite direction, but just in the township, they all nod.  I like it.

I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at the Mogas Roadhouse - they make the best coffee in Ceduna.  I can vouch for that now.  And off I mosey down the highway from whence I came.

This time I vow to stop off at anything that resembles a tourist spot- I have no idea where the good places to stop are, so I basically stop at the lot.

Don't worry, I won't put all my photos up here, but maybe because it was a complete surprise, but looking back, Perlubie Beach is my favourite:

What you see in the above photo are about 5 shelters built on the beach itself.  Some people have brought their caravans down onto the beach too.  It was the most exquisite place for a beach camp.

I decided to go for a walk along that beach.  I walked about 2.5km along the beach.  Of course I came across people in their caravans as per below.  I wouldn't call it secluded or isolated, but there is so much space to be on your own, it's a great place to visit.

Here's a bird drying it's wings off in front of me.

On my return walk I noticed footsteps in the sand.

I took another look around Streaky Bay when I got there - of course I visited spots I missed the first time round, and I can understand why this place is so popular.

I took time to visit Whistling Rocks which is on the ocean side of Streaky Bay.

On the way down to the rocks I came across a budding tight-rope walker:

Here's another nice photo of the area.

A few people commented that I should visit the Eyre Peninsula.  All this area is the Eyre Peninsula.  No wonder many people recommend it.

Check out how busy the caravan park is at Streaky Bay.  The photo can't do it justice... its jam packed.

I stopped off at Port Kenny and Venus Bay to take photos on the road between Streaky Bay and a place called Elliston.

Ho hum...

I tried to get accommodation at Venus Bay.  Nope... all booked out.

It was getting late now, so I had to drive to the next town, Elliston, without knowing whether I'd get a bed or not.

Phew... I found a motel with a room available.  I needn't sleep in the car after all.
